For years I have been working with butoh through both sound and music. I have been collaborating and providing sound and stage art for many dancers in Japan and Taiwan, for example Iori Kinki, Akiyo, Chihao Bai, Yu Sonoda, Afra Lin, Huang Lan, Yuta Uno, Himeko Narumi.

I played all the music at Hokkaido Butoh Festival in 2024 with Sin Tamon.

I also help arranging workshops both in Japan and Taiwan and provide sound for the dancers.

As far as my own butoh goes, it is more or less self-taught aside from participating the workshops I have been collaborating at. My practice started as a self discipline and patience practice while I was living in some sort of exile in Busan, Korea. 

My teacher is the sea, my music is the wind and the waves. To me, butoh is more closer to poetry than dance. I have also written of butoh to some extent, this is my essay on the context of butoh and sound. The Poetry o Flesh and Rust is the practical application of the ideas on that essay.

この数年間は舞踏の世界で舞踏と音どちらも使いながら活躍。

日本でも、台湾でも色々な素晴らしい舞踏家たちとコラボレーションしていて、例えば金亀伊織様、明夜様、鳴海姫子様、林アフラ様、園田游様、白濟豪様にも音を作りました。2023年からは明夜との二人の黙雷という舞踏のユニット活躍。2024年は北海道舞踏フェスティバルで多門伸様と一緒に音の制。

偶にはワークショップとかでも手伝いし、音つくりとか、通訳の事でも手伝ってあげます。

自分の舞踏って、参加したワークショップ以外は独学です。この修行の始まりのは、韓国の釜山で亡国みたいに住んだ時は海でやった忍耐力の修行日記という事でした。我が師匠は海で、我が音楽は海風と波の音です。

僕による舞踏はダンスより詩のほうが近いものです。舞踏についても色々な事書いています。上のリンクで日本語でも舞踏と音の関係のエッセイ 「肉体と錆の詩」というエッセイが読めます。
